8 Reasons to Become a Business Officer with MCB Bank
Are you an aspiring business officer with a dream to serve your country in the banking sector? Then it is time to consider joining MCB Bank. Here are 8 compelling reasons why you should become a business officer with MCB Bank and start shaping the future of Pakistan’s economy.
1) Business officers get to travel
As an MCB Business Officer, you’ll be required to attend and organize workshops, conferences, seminars, and exhibitions in different cities. All of which means that you get plenty of opportunities for travel both within Pakistan and internationally. Plus, as one of only 13 percent of women working in a professional role within Pakistan’s banking sector,
being an officer means you have an opportunity to join a very small but incredibly talented group of females. And while it might seem strange at first glance, women who work in male-dominated professions are actually more committed than their peers when it comes to success.
2) It’s a great time to join the bank
With our steady progress and well-established reputation, we’re one of Pakistan’s leading banks. As we grow and continue expanding into international markets, our business officers will have opportunities for professional development and personal growth.
And they’ll also get to work alongside some of Pakistan’s brightest professionals: our bank has more than 15,000 employees. Ready to join us? See below for 8 reasons why you should become a business officer at MCB Bank!
To learn more about finance, banking, and corporate strategy: At MCB Bank, you’ll get opportunities for professional development and personal growth in an environment where your talents will be recognized and rewarded. Our team of business officers is diverse in every way—backgrounds, skillsets, interests, cultures—and all of us come together to form one of Pakistan’s leading banks.
3) The bank gives you opportunities to prove yourself
You are given opportunities of building your career at all times. You’ll be entrusted with small tasks at first, but you can watch your responsibilities grow as you gain more responsibility and experience. If you show initiative, passion, and dedication in your work, you can definitely climb up within MCB.
There are very few jobs where you will be trusted so much and given such important responsibilities early on in your career. The bank takes care of its employees: Not only does MCB offer great benefits (see below), but they also offer professional development courses and fantastic employee perks that aren’t usually seen in other companies.
4) There are scholarships available
In addition to offering competitive salaries, career development opportunities, and flexible working hours, MCB also offers scholarships for up to 20% of its new hires. That’s right: some positions are eligible for more than a job at MCB—they’re eligible for education too. Once accepted into a training program, you’ll receive financial assistance and on-the-job training that will allow you to learn business skills while earning your degree.
What’s more, all scholarship employees receive free tuition and living expenses while they attend an approved training program. If you complete your program of study at one of our partner institutions, you could be reimbursed for up to 75% of your tuition costs—in addition to receiving on-the-job experience and furthering your professional development.
5) If you’re young, you get more chances in your career
As a trainee business officer, you will be joining hundreds of other professionals in their early twenties—and it won’t just be your age that’ll get you noticed. The bank says it hires people because of their courage, passion, and ideas. Their success is based on how hard they work rather than how long they’ve been working there. At some banks in Pakistan, trainees are given restricted tasks and projects but that’s not so at MCB.
Instead, they’re encouraged to take initiative and go beyond what’s expected of them. If you start showing promise early on, you’ll definitely gain some serious momentum in your career—who knows? You could even find yourself running an entire department one day.
6) Your performance will be appreciated
You might think it’s silly, but knowing your boss and coworkers appreciate your efforts—and that you’re working for an organization that gives back and cares about its community—can go a long way in boosting morale. And making your employees happy can translate into better bottom-line results for them (and for you).
So if you want to keep climbing up the corporate ladder, it’s important that people around you feel heard and valued. The more they do, the more motivated they’ll be to help you succeed.
In other words, when you’re dealing with your peers or even higher-ups, it pays to make an effort. When you feel appreciated by others—
whether it’s your co-workers, family members, or clients—you’ll be more likely to stay committed to your goals and enjoy what you do at work. As Henry Ford famously said: If there is any one secret to success, it lies in the ability to get along with people.
7) An MBA does not hold as much weight as an undergraduate degree at some banks in Pakistan
For example, if you want to be a successful business officer at Meezan Bank, you need only an undergraduate degree. On the other hand, Pakistan’s largest bank (by assets), MCB Bank Ltd., looks more favorably on postgraduate degrees. MBA or Master in Finance has strong weightage, said Saad Ali Shaikh, Chief Human Resource and Marketing Officer of MCB. A degree holder can apply as well.
At MCB, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. If you have no prior banking experience and/or an undergraduate degree, then you’ll need to do an internship program for at least six months. For undergraduates who plan on pursuing full-time employment with one of Pakistan’s leading banks, here are some factors that may weigh in your favor:
8) The pay is good. Period.
Banks, like many industries, follow a pretty standard salary curve. When you’re just starting out as an entry-level banker, you make less than your senior colleagues. But after several years of experience and growth in your skillset, you start making more money and moving up the ranks.
In fact, if you stick it out at one bank and show consistent growth in your skillset over time, there’s no reason why you couldn’t become one of their highest-paid employees. BDO Australia revealed that entry-level business officers made AUD$84K (USD$62K) on average.
What’s more, if you perform well at your job and demonstrate consistent growth over time, it shouldn’t be hard for you to earn a promotion and climb that salary curve. The real key is working hard, being dedicated, and developing your skillset on a regular basis. Get it done, and there’s no reason why you can’t walk away from your career as one of their top-paid employees.
